Indianapolis is divided into 9 individual Townships with each as large or larger than most counties in Indiana. Perry Township, located on the south-side of Indianapolis, stretches across a 43 square mile area that begins on the southern edges of downtown Indianapolis and extends south to County Line Road just north of White River Township in Greenwood, Johnson County. Emerson Avenue serves as the eastern boundary of Perry Township dividing it from Franklin Township. The western boundary of the Township borders with Decatur Township and is divided by White River.
